Homegrown CB in last 12 months

Liverpool make contact with AC Milan over Fikayo Tomori According to TuttoJuve, Liverpool have made initial contact with AC Milan defender Tomori, who is into the last 12 months of his contract. The report states that one of the Reds’ main ‘priorities’ is strengthening their defence, with Iraola on the lookout for an experienced and reliable centre-back. Discussions are said to be at an early stage but the England international’s name is very much on their shortlist.

LFIJ Si's Hot Take He is not good enough and the only benefit would be is he is homegrown and would be willing to be 4th choice. A stop gap if there ever was one.

The New Luis Diaz from Porto?

Liverpool are reportedly among a host of top European clubs monitoring teenage FC Porto winger Oskar Pietuszewski. His current club are set to reject any offers which fall below his release clause of €60m (£51.2m).

LFIJ Si's Hot Take Big interest from European teams but he is 18 years old and spending £51.2 million on someone who will need alot of time to adapt and improve is nonsense when we need a Salah replacement
Ibrahim Mbaye Ibrahim Mbaye
28 Jul 2026

According to the BBC, Ibrahim Mbaye has been offered to both Liverpool and Manchester City as the highly rated youngster's future remains uncertain. The 17-year-old is regarded as one of France's brightest talents, but there is currently no indication that Liverpool have made a formal move. At this stage, it's understood that the player has simply been made available to interested clubs, with LFC among those informed of the opportunity. For now, this appears to be one to watch rather than an advanced negotiation.

LFIJ Si's Hot Take I love Mbaye and believe he will become an epic player. But the 50 million euro cost is excessive and he is not as ready as Barcola to hit the ground running despite his good showings. He is a natural right winger and is one to watch but he will struggle to a first team starter outright until he develops his off the ball tactical play.

Djed Spence Djed Spence

A Proper Fullback Option for both sides

Djed Spence is apparently being discussed behind the scenes as an option for Liverpool with Sascha Tavolieri and Lewis Steele, a Daily Mail journalist hinting at interest from Liverpool for Tottenhams versatile fullback who starred for England at the World Cup

Source: Lewis Steele, Sascha Tavolieri
LFIJ Si's Hot Take I don't think there is a credible story here because Spence is probably first choice on either fullback position for Spurs and they invested heavily for De Zerbi, who will want Djed in their squad. After the world cup showing, his valuation probably makes him unattractive despite being homegrown and a good player. Conte famously criticized the purchase of Spence for Spurs and refused to play him.
